Artistic Director, Jaclyn Capozzi

A native of Saugus, Massachusetts, Miss Capozzi began her study of dance in Melrose under the training of Donna Leonard. Jaclyn received her B.A. in dance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While studying she performed with several troupes including: "University Dancers," "Alive With Dance," The Multiband Concert in Blue Danube Walze and the "American College Festival of America." Her most notable performance was George Balanchine’s Serenade staged under the direction of Victoria Simon. She had the opportunity to receive the highest level of training by participating in workshops and classes by renowned companies and choreographers such as Paul Taylor, Hubbard Street Dance, and the American Ballet Theatre II. She received the Chancellor’s Talent Award Scholarship in 2002, given to a dancer who shows excellence and high potential in dance.

In June 2000, Jaclyn completed the Dancer Teacher’s Club of Boston Dance Education Training Program. She was the recipient of the American Academy of Jazz Scholarship in her second year. Jaclyn has been an active teacher and choreographer for six years, currently at Center Stage Dance Studio in Melrose and The Kathy McCrohon Dance Center of Wellesley. She finds her inspiration through working with enthusiastic and talented dancers of all ages.

She is thrilled to return to Melrose Youth Ballet with whom she performed for five years as a company member, soloist, and guest artist in The Nutcracker. Jaclyn truly treasures this wonderful opportunity to share her love of Melrose Youth Ballet and the story of The Nutcracker with all once again this Christmas season.
