Melrose Youth Ballet
About
Bio
As the Board President, Margaret has served on the Board over the last two decades. Margaret's talents are seen in running the backstage making sure every dancer's hair, accessories, costumes, props, tights, and shoes are correct for their role. From bobby pinning headpieces to last minute stitches Margaret is somehow able to do it all with a smile and laughing with the dancers she is helping.
Dance
As a child, although unable to attend a formal dance studio, Margaret and her sisters would choreograph their own routines and put together costumes for recitals held in their living room. Her mother absolutely loved watching her girls and would later go on to sit front row at every competition her two granddaughters were in. Margaret was however finally able to make her big debut on stage performing in a parent routine during her eldest daughter's senior recital. As much as Margaret loves dance, she prefers having watched her two daughters and now getting to watch her granddaughter perform.
Inspiration
"I was inspired to join the Board after helping chaperone the dancers during my daughter's first year in the Nutcracker. I fell in love with the "magic" that is the Nutcracker and how it brings so much joy to so many each year. From the smiles at auditions to crying together because its already week four, it has been a pleasure having the opportunity to have met so many wonderful dancers over the past two decades. At MYB we are a family and that family continues on as we remain in contact with many of our Alumni. Being able to provide dancers with an incredible, one of a kind experience, where they can feel proud of themselves and the production they represent is the driving force behind why I continue to volunteer as Board President after all these years."- Margaret Palmisano
